On Friday, the annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, kicked off.
Days after the start of the much-anticipated event, one person, who allegedly made a threat to bomb the festival, was arrested.
According to a 6ABC Action News report, a 40-year-old man suspected of claiming he would bomb the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was arrested on Saturday.
Per the media outlet's report, the suspect made the threat at the Agua Caliente Casino.
The Santa Monica man allegedly disclosed his plans to a security guard at the premier casino resort destination.
Subsequently, security notified law enforcement and helped by providing information regarding the suspect's car, which was reportedly a Tesla.
To help track the 40-year-old suspect, the Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) reportedly used FLOCK ALPR, an automated system that recognizes license plates of vehicles.
Using this system, the CCPD was able to keep track of the suspect's moves across the Coachella Valley.
After the threat was made at around 11 AM on Saturday, law enforcement detained the suspect just an hour later, at around 12:11 PM.
Initially, the 40-year-old suspect, who allegedly said he planned to bomb the music festival, was detained by officers with the Palm Springs Police.
After the person was arrested, CCPD detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
Per the recent media report, the 40-year-old suspect's bail was set at $1m.
The Santa Monica resident is held at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
Law enforcement hasn't confirmed what charges the suspect is facing.
The popular music festival in Palm Springs was initially organized as a single-day event in 2001.
The next year, the festival was held over two days, while in 2007, Coachella was expanded with the addition of a third day.
Several years later, in 2012, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival's schedule has increased with the addition of a second weekend.
This year, the festival takes place between April 11 and 13 and April 18 and 20.
For more than two decades, Coachella has attracted music lovers from across the country with a wide variety of performances.
The festival's lineup includes electronic dance music, as well as pop, indie, hip hop and rock, among other popular genres. The festival doesn't have an age restriction.
