There are several hotels and casinos in Las Vegas tied to tragic events. After all, Sin City was once infamous for being the home ground of many mobsters, some of whom resorted to violence and murder to settle disputes, silence informants or enforce loyalty.

Besides crimes related to mafia activities, some Las Vegas hotels and casinos are linked to what people may describe as paranormal activities. One such venue is Circus Circus, a circus-themed hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip.

A brief history of the Circus Circus "haunted" hotel and casino

The popular go-to hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip first opened its doors in October 1968. Initially, Circus Circus opened without a hotel, which partly impacted its financial results over the next few years. Then, in 1972, the popular Strip venue added one hotel tower with more than 400 rooms.

Operating for nearly six decades, Circus Circus has gone through many expansions and renovations that have seen it improve its offerings and introduce popular attractions and amenities. Notably, Circus Circus is the home of the Adventuredome, a large-scale indoor amusement park. In addition, the Las Vegas Strip hotel and casino has the largest permanent circus, an achievement that was recognized with a Guinness World Record in 1974.

Currently, Circus Circus is owned and operated by Phil Ruffin and remains one of the most popular venues on the Las Vegas Strip. Besides a go-to attraction, the hotel and casino have attracted a lot of visitors with paranormal stories, often shared online.

While it is difficult to confirm stories of Circus Circus ghost sightings, there's a growing number of individuals who shared their experiences and claim to have heard whispers, scratching or other strange noises. Many of the rumors claim that Circus Circus Room 123 is haunted and the apparitions of a mother and her child that were involved in a tragic accident can be seen there.

What happened in Room 123 in Circus Circus?

Paranormal enthusiasts across the globe are intrigued by the question of what happened in Room 123 in Circus Circus. Despite the lack of official documentation, rumors shared online suggest that a tragic event had taken place in that particular room.

As suggested by an article by Ghost City Tours, a firm that describes itself as "the world's $1 ghost tour company," a mother and her child were found dead at Circus Circus Room 123. Reportedly, the mother had taken the life of her son before taking her own in what can be described as a murder suicide.

Since those tragic events had taken place, whispers can be heard down the hallways near the room, along with screams of the boy's plea for help. Strange noises, scratching on walls, misplacing of objects, as well as the words "Help Me" written on bathroom mirrors have reportedly appeared since the tragic accident. On some occasions, apparitions of the mother and her child were also seen.

The Room 123 Circus Circus murder story continues to attract visitors to the already popular hotel and casino. Online forums, Reddit discussions and ghost tours further fuel the interest in the Circus Circus haunted hotel, despite the lack of official evidence.

Despite claims about a tragic accident at Circus Circus Room 123, official evidence is yet to confirm the creepy story and paranormal activities.

A bloody 2018 murder fuels speculation about Circus Circus paranormal activities

In addition to the Room 123 Circus Circus murder story, which cannot be definitively confirmed as 100% real, the Strip hotel and casino resort has been the site of other violent crimes. Most recently, in 2018, a couple was found dead at their hotel room at Circus Circus.

Despite speculation online, the pair was simply the victim of a robbery that had gone wrong. The Vietnamese couple planned to visit the Grand Canyon and stayed at room 2880 on the 21st floor at Circus Circus. Sadly, they were robbed and each of them was fatally stabbed.

The man suspected for the gruesome murder at Circus Circus was found guilty by a jury late last year, as reported by local media. The 37-year-old faced charges of robbery with a weapon, burglary and murder. Based on the charges, the man may be facing a life sentence in prison or even a death sentence.

The long and colorful history of Circus Circus paranormal activity was further fueled by the bloody murders. Still, no evidence suggests any paranormal activity or ghost sightings were involved in what can be described as a double homicide.

Thrill-seekers and supernatural investigators visit the Circus Circus haunted hotel

While there are many stories about Circus Circus haunted Room 123, paranormal enthusiasts and visitors claim that strange noises, whispers and other paranormal activities can be experienced across the property. A story shared a few years ago on Reddit by a user nicknamed "sahara812" suggests a chilling paranormal experience at Circus Circus in Las Vegas.

Per the claim of the person that visited the property, they stayed in a hotel room that had a door to an adjacent room. The visitors claimed this was weird as their room was at the end of a hallway and there were no other rooms. Looking underneath the door, the visitors saw what is likely an extra suite room that was all dusty and looked like it "hadn't been touched in a long time."

The same user wrote that they explored the hotel and casino and didn't witness any paranormal activity. When they came back to their room, they once again looked underneath the door that separated their room from the adjacent suite. Surprised, they claimed to have seen some drawers open.

After going to bed, one of the visitors was awoken in the middle of the night after feeling blankets were yanked over their feet. The same visitor claimed to see a shadowy figure and wondered if that was their friend trying to pull a prank. Turning on the light, they saw their friend sleeping, which creeped them out.

The same Reddit user wrote: "We woke up the next morning and discussed what had happened the night before and it was pretty exciting as creepy as it was lol. Definitely one of the more haunted hotels on the Strip."

The Circus Circus Room 123 mystery continues to attract visitors

Amid reports about Circus Circus ghost sightings, many vloggers and enthusiasts have visited the property and recorded their experience. The lore about Room 123 Circus Circus murder, constantly evolves with new claims about paranormal activity and chilling experiences.

Despite all claims about paranormal activities, most of those stories remain horror fiction. Forum debates online suggest that Circus Circus Room 123 doesn't even exist with some users claiming that if indeed a tragic accident involving a young child and his mother had taken place, it wasn't in a particular room with the number 123.

As not all accidents are publicly reported, especially a couple of decades ago, Circus Circus haunted Room 123 may have been used as a placeholder, considering that the actual crime may have taken place in a room number that was deliberately withheld. This is not an uncommon practice for Las Vegas Strip resorts.

While violent crimes have taken place at Circus Circus, this isn't the only Las Vegas hotel and casino that has seen such a share of events. Still, the creepy story about Circus Circus Room 123 continues to attract visitors who want to experience the paranormal, further cementing the hotel's place in Las Vegas ghost lore.
