The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expanded its lottery offering with the introduction of a new daily draw game – Pick 3, which will have players compete for mini-draws with a maximum prize of AED2,500 awarded every day.
The appeal of the game comes from the fact that players need to guess three numbers, and each entry costs AED5. The numbers are set at 0-9, meaning that the odds of winning are pretty high, even though the top prize may not necessarily be the largest that players could claim.
Players have the opportunity to win from across three levels, which include AED425, AED850, and AED2,500.
Bishop Woosley, Director of Lottery Operations at The Game LLC, the company that is licensed to run the UAE’s lottery operations and rolled out the offer last year, had this to say on the occasion of the new game launch:
"The launch of the ‘Pick 3’ daily draw means we are enabling our participants to continue to dream big every single day by introducing more variety in our games and giving them opportunities to win exciting cash prizes. Players can now enjoy a broader range of games to play, all within the secure and regulated framework of The UAE Lottery, ensuring operational integrity and transparency."
More companies have been entering the market in the United Arab Emirates at the same time, and there have been talks about expanding the reach of gaming in the country and not limiting it solely to the lottery and an upcoming land-based casino project.
However, any shift towards online gambling at a larger scale remains speculative and, in all likelihood, is not going to materialize any time soon.
This has not stopped multiple platform and content providers from seeking licenses in the United Arab Emirates, all the same, however.
Most recently, Fennica Gaming secured a Gaming Related Vendor License in the country, and it is not the only company to have done so.
At the end of May, Scientific Games confirmed that it has similarly obtained a lottery license, with more options available locally as a result. The company is hardly the only one to have sought and gained entry into the promising market, with Novomatic beating it to the punch in mid-April.
Yet, some companies have been left waiting, including MGM Resorts International, which is trying to secure a license to develop a casino resort complex of its own, with a possible casino.
The regulator has so far kept quiet, though, in all likelihood giving the upcoming Wynn Al-Marjan Island project enough time to gain a strong foothold as construction is ongoing and the opening due date has been set for 2027.
