The Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA), a body uniting a number of gambling majors in the United States, has vowed to further enhance the industry’s standards for fair and safe play, offering consumers robust protection and steering them away from gambling harm.

ROGA wants to standardize RG standards in the industry

To deliver on this ambitious task, ROGA’s members have now announced a new Request for Proposal (RFP) process to develop and create a new comprehensive certification program that will further support operators’ commitment to raising player protection standards and ensuring that gambling is something that people practice recreationally and for fun.

The ambition behind this RFP process is to codify clear-cut standards for responsible gambling that can serve as a guiding principle for the industry at large and not only for ROGA’s members.

The immediate goal is to create a certification program that will focus on key areas that can impact consumer safety for the better such as better corporate policy, and employee training so that those working on the ground level and interacting with customers whether in-personor over the Internet can spot the signs of problem gambling, and more.

Another area of focus for the certification will also be self-exclusion, as ROGA’s members have long understood that prevention is better than treatment. The certification process is also going to seek and assess stakeholders’ current responsible gambling framework and pitch improvements.

By setting up a certification process, the industry at large can deliver a unified and robust standard for responsible play, ROGA believes.

Introducing robust standards for safer play

ROGA Executive Director Dr Jennifer Shatley has launched the launch of the RFP as it further underscores the association’s commitment to ensuring that the industry follows and helps establish robust responsible gaming support mechanics, exclusion protocols, training and advertising.

"This step marks a significant milestone in our mission to build an organization that provides valuable resources to promote responsible gaming," Dr. Shatley wrapped up. This is not the first time that ROGA has sought to strengthen player protection.

In September, the association announced a new responsible gaming program geared towards college students and seeking to educate them about the industry associated with gambling and placing wagers on sports.
