Clarion Gaming, the organizer of one of the most anticipated and prestigious events for the gambling sector this year, ICE Barcelona, revealed that its Managing Director, Stuart Hunter, will set aside his role at the premier B2B gambling exhibition, to participate in a formidable physical challenge with the goal of raising funds for a children's charity.
Earlier this week, Clarion Gaming confirmed that Hunter will be among the participants of the extreme challenge, Spartan Beast.
The grueling obstacle trail is designed to test the limits of human endurance.
Spartan Beast features a 21km, or 13.1m, trail with 30 obstacles, including a barbed wire crawl, rope climbs, slip walls and other extreme physical challenges.
As noted, Hunter's participation in Spartan Beast won't be solely for the test of his endurance, as he will seek to raise funds for CHIPS, a children's charity that was formed by leading companies from the gambling sector.
CHIPS' efforts have helped deliver more than 700 wheelchairs to young people suffering from different mobility issues.
Spartan Beast will be taking place in the Chiltern Hills, west London, on May 17, 2025.
Linda Lindsay, CHIPS' co-founder, spoke about the gambling industry's dedication to the charity's noble initiative.
She highlighted that much of the £4.5m CHIPS has received came from generous organizations such as Clarion Gaming.
According to Lindsay, Clarion Gaming is one of CHIPS' long-term supporters as the company has helped young people and their families year after year.
Moreover, CHIPS' co-founder said: "CHIPS fundraisers have regularly pushed themselves to the limit in aid of the charity but I can't recall anyone completing a 13-mile assault course and crawling underneath barbed wire."
Last but not least, Lindsay pointed out: "It's this 'can do' attitude which defines our industry and I wish Stuart all the very best when he takes on what sounds like a quite formidable challenge!"
Commenting on the topic, Hunter said: "CHIPS is a quite brilliant charity that’s very close to my heart."
He outlined the charity's noble goal of delivering wheelchairs that are built precisely to meet the requirements of each child.
"As a CHIPS Trustee I have been privileged to attend a number of the presentations and to see for myself the wonderful impact a chair has," Clarion Gaming's Managing Director added.
Hunter said he hopes to raise £6,000 by completing the Spartan Beast. According to the gaming executive, the aforementioned sum will help provide the full support required for one family.
Finally, Hunter encouraged generous businesses, individuals or organizations to support the noble cause and explained that 100% of all donations are distributed directly to cover the costs for wheelchairs.
