A lottery player in Victoria, Australia, who thought she won an AU$100 prize from a scratch-off ticket was pleasantly surprised by a life-enhancing AU$100,000 win.
The lucky Reservoir woman, whose identity was not publicly disclosed, uncovered an interesting story regarding her latest windfall that came from a ticket that was guarded by her pet cat.
The fortunate woman tried her luck with the AU$5 Block-O Bingo Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
In an interview for an official with The Lott, the winner admitted that she often plays the lottery and usually buys several tickets at a time.
When she decided to try her luck, the Victorian woman initially thought of buying four tickets.
However, seeing that there was one ticket left on the roll, the woman decided to buy it as well, when she was also promoted by the shop clerk.
Once back home, the woman scratched off all tickets with the exception of the last, the fifth one.
As it turned out, the last ticket was the one winning the top AU$100,000 prize.
"I was looking around for ages, and then I realized my cat was sitting on the ticket; the winning ticket was stuck to him," the woman recalled.
Initially, the winner thought that the ticket had brought her only AU$100. But taking another look, she was shocked to realize that the AU$5 ticket turned into a life-altering AU$100,000 win.
"When I looked at the ticket properly, I realized I had actually won $100,000. I was like, ‘Are you serious?’. I checked it so many times. I couldn’t believe it," the lucky winner added.
The winner purchased her tickets at Summerhill Post and Lotto, Shop 11, Summerhill Village on 830 Plenty Road in Reservoir.
The AU$5 scratch-off ticket grants players a chance to win a range of prizes.
After the AU$100,000 top win, one such prize remains in play from the popular scratch-off ticket game.
Data from The Lott reveals that there are approximately 1,625,000 Block-O Bingo tickets printed across Australia.
In total, the game offers 430,284 winning tickets with a total prize value of AU$4,875,000.
