A fortunate woman from Lake Wales in Florida was able to turn a $20 scratch-off ticket into a life-changing prize.

The Florida Lottery confirmed that a 59-year-old woman scored one of the top prizes from its popular scratch-off ticket, Gold Rush Limited.

The fortunate winner did not confirm if she had plans about the unexpected windfall

The winner purchased her ticket from Murphy USA at 2048 Walton Way in Lake Wales.

To the surprise and shock of the lottery player, her $20 ticket turned out as a $5m winner, allowing her to score one of the scratch-off game's top prizes.

As is usual for such top prizes, the lottery retailer that sold the winning ticket will benefit from a $10,000 bonus commission.

On the other hand, the Lake Wales woman recently visited the Florida Lottery's headquarters located in Tallahassee to claim her big prize.

It's no surprise that the lucky winner chose to receive the prize as a lump cash sum and her bank account increased by $3,960,000.00.

While the woman claimed her big win, she did not discuss any details regarding her plans for the windfall.

Overall odds of winning any prize from Gold Rush Limited are 1 in 2.65

To win the top prize from Gold Rush Limited, the Polk County woman beat the odds of 1 in 2,362,500.

It was back in September 2021 when the Florida Lottery launched the popular scratch-off ticket.

Initially, the game offered a total of 32 prizes of $5m each. However, after the most recent win, now, only one top prize remains in play.

Gold Rush Limited costs $20 per ticket and features overall odds of 1 in 2.65.

The scratch-off game grants players a chance to win a prize between $20 and $5m.

A tier-two prize from Gold Rush Limited pays $1m. The odds of winning such a prize are 1 in 756,000.

When the scratch-off game was introduced, there were a total of 100 prizes of $1m each.

However, now, seven remain up for grabs. On the bright side, the ticket offers a range of other prizes within the lower prize tiers, including $100,000, $10,000 and $1,000.
