A worker from New Hampshire who was together with his crew on an assignment in Maryland was surprised by a hefty lottery win.

The Maryland Lottery released details regarding the fortunate winner who scored one of the top prizes from the Let's Make a Deal scratch-off game.

A quick stop for snacks brings a $50,000 lottery win

The lucky winner, who chose to remain anonymous, admitted to being a casual casino gambler.

Homesick for his state and together with his work crew, the man decided to give a scratch-off ticket a try.

Stopping at the Sheetz convenience store at 601 Pulaski Highway in Joppa, the man purchased two Let's Make a Deal tickets and hot dogs.

The ticket purchase wasn't by accident as moments earlier, the winner spoke with his team members and one of them said: "Could you imagine if one of us won the lottery?"

Fortunately, the man's decision to buy two tickets for $5 each resulted in him winning one of the top prizes from the lottery game for a $50,000 payday.

The retail venue that sold the winning ticket will benefit from a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.

The fortunate winner recently visited the Lottery headquarters to claim his big win.

The man admitted that once he goes back home to New Hampshire, he won't hurry to spend any of the money before discussing it with his father, who he said is a "money guy."

Still, the winner admitted that he would treat himself to a fishing rod.

Plenty of prizes remain in play from Let's Make a Deal

Each Let's Make a Deal ticket costs $5 per play and offers odds of winning any prize of 1 in 3.97.

The popular scratch-off ticket, which was introduced late last month, grants players a chance to win a prize between $5 and $50,000.

After the most recent top prize win, now, four prizes of $50,000 remain in play.

On the other hand, a tier-two prize awards $5,000 and there are 10 such prizes in play.

A tier-three prize from Let's Make a Deal awards $1,000 and there are a total of 28 such prizes up for grabs.

Within the lower tiers, between $500 and $5, there are many more prizes that await players of the popular lottery game.
