International Game Technology saw three people scoop huge paydays in May 2025, with the company’s Wheel of Fortune and Powerbucks slot games minting three new millionaires who couldn’t believe their luck.
Both games are progressive jackpot titles that contribute a small part of every wager placed to a grand prize that is then fed into a communal jackpot that can be won by a single person. Although the games are available at multiple locations, the jackpots are usually combined from multiple machines or even casinos.
The wins occurred almost symmetrically throughout the month, with an early winner crowned at the Gila River Resorts & Casinos – Santan Mountain in Chandler, Arizona, where one happy casino patron turned their wager on Wheel of Fortune Triple Red Hot 7s Gold Spin into a $1,033,590 payout on May 3.
The winner, a veteran, had the time of his life, and won by accident, after his wife, Betty, urged him to visit the property and try his luck on the slots. So, he did, and the win dropped!
"We didn’t plan on visiting the casino, but we did, and now we’re leaving big winners," the anonymous winner added.
Another win dropped on May 17 when a person in Ontario, Canada, managed to turn a bet on the Powerbucks game online into a CA$1,281,026. They were playing the Wheel of Fortune Diamonds Deluxe Date Night.
Last but not least, the company also reported another big win in May – the largest of the month – which occurred on May 23 and fetched one lucky player at Michael Gaughan Airport Slots at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas the eye-watering sum of $1,816,406. The player was playing the Wheel of Fortune Triple Red Hot 7s Gold Spin.
The last win was not too heavily publicized and was only shared by the official company update, which summed up all three wins for the month. IGT also used the opportunity to recap the success of the Wheel of Fortune slots, saying that it has awarded more than $3.6bn in jackpots to more than 1,200 millionaires. The jackpots were introduced nearly 30 years ago in 1996 and have been a hit ever since.
