A woman from Montcalm County was in disbelief and screamed for "30 minutes straight" after winning a life-changing $1m prize from the Michigan Lottery's Electric 100s instant game.
Earlier this week, the Lottery confirmed that a 57-year-old woman, who chose to remain anonymous, scored the first top prize from the popular $10 scratch-off game that launched earlier this month.
The fortunate winner purchased her ticket at Zerkas General Store on 1249 North Greenville Road in Stanton.
Speaking to a Michigan Lottery official, the woman said that she was on the phone with her daughter when she was scratching off the ticket.
At one point, the woman saw a lightbulb symbol, which in Electric 100s awards the prize next to it.
Then, the woman saw "$1MIL" next to the lightbulb symbol and started screaming with joy.
"My daughter thought something bad had happened because I kept yelling 'No way!'," the woman recalled.
The Montcalm County woman then told her daughter that she had won $1m, but her daughter didn't believe her at first.
The lucky winner admitted that she was also in disbelief, which is why she wanted to scan the ticket with the Michigan Lottery's app.
"I scanned it on the Lottery app and when $1 million came up, I think I screamed for 30 minutes straight! I’m still in awe and I can’t believe I’m actually here claiming $1 million," the lucky winner said.
Recently, the fortunate woman visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim the big win.
Although she had the option to receive the entire $1m prize via annuity payments, she selected to receive a one-time lump sum payment of $693,000.
The woman told a Lottery official that she intends to invest some of the money and also buy a house and share the winnings with her family.
Suzanna Shkreli, the Michigan Lottery's Commissioner, said: "Congratulations to this lucky player who is the first top-prize winner on the Electric 100s game, which is a part of the Electric family of instant games that launched earlier this month."
Moreover, the executive outlined: "The Electric family of games is not only giving players a shot at millions in prizes instantly, but players can also enter non-winning tickets into a second-chance drawing for the opportunity to win $1 million later this year at a Detroit Tigers game!"
Introduced earlier this month, the Electric 100s instant game costs $10 per play and grants players a chance to win a prize between $10 and $1m.
The recent win marked the first top prize drop from the popular game and now, there are two other prizes of $1m remaining in play.
On the other hand, a tier-two prize from Electric 100s pays out $1,000 and there are 108 such prizes up for grabs.
The overall odds of winning any prize from the Electric 100s instant game are 1 in 3.63.
