An incredibly lucky lottery player in North Carolina was "tickled to death" after winning a life-changing $10m prize.

Late last week, the North Carolina Education Lottery confirmed that a Winston-Salem man won one of the remaining top prizes from its $10 Million Spectacular scratch-off game.

The lucky man scored $10,000 from a different lottery game recently

The fortunate man, who owns a construction business, decided to give the $50 scratch-off game a try.

Speaking to a Lottery official, the man revealed that the $10m isn't the only prize he scored recently.

The lucky player said earlier this month, he won $10,000 from a different scratch-off ticket game.

Recalling the day he decided to buy the $10 Million Spectacular ticket, the man said: "Sometimes you have a gut feeling. It just happened to be my lucky day."

The winning ticket was purchased at KP Food Mart on Old Thomasville Road in Winston-Salem.

After scratching off the ticket, the fortunate winner stared at it for minutes.

The winner admitted to feeling nervous in the beginning. Then, had sort of a "crazy feeling," before starting to worry that he might lose the ticket with the life-changing sum.

Jokingly, the winner said: "I didn’t want the wind to blow it away."

Last week, the winner visited the North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters to claim his big win.

As is usual with such large prizes, the winner was given a chance to either collect the full sum via annuity payments of $500,000 per year for 20 years, or take home a lump, one-time cash sum of $6m.

It's not a surprise that the winner selected the latter option.

After the relevant applicable state and federal taxes, the man's bank account increased by $4,305,014.

Many prizes that vary in size remain in play, from the $50 scratch-off ticket

The $10m prize won by the Winston-Salem man marks the fourth such win from the $10 Million Spectacular scratch-off game.

The win also represents only the second prize of such size for North Carolina for the year so far.

After the $10m win, only one such top prize remains in play from the popular scratch-off ticket.

The odds of winning $10m from the $10 Million Spectacular scratch-off game are 1 in 3,255,582.

On the other hand, the game offers tier-two prizes of $1m each with odds of 1 in 813,895.5. There are two such prizes in play.

A tier-three prize with the same odds awards $100,000 and there are four such prizes in play.

Within the lower prize tiers, between $50,000 and $50, many more prizes are up for grabs from the popular $50 game.

The odds of winning any prize from the scratch-off ticket are 1 in 3.11.
