The Illinois Lottery continues to crown one big-time winner after the next, and in the latest news from just over the weekend, the Illinois iLottery announced that a person had bagged $1.3m from the FastPlay game, Cash Castle.
The winner, who was not identified but who did pose for the customary photo-op with the outsized check covering most of his face and sunglasses showing right above the upper edge of the check, was nicknamed "King of the Castle," and thus retained his anonymity.
The player won in May 2025, but the win was publicized a bit later. The exact amount of the win is $1,348,786. The winner was happy to offer his two cents on the win, which caught him completely by surprise.
"I only ever play the lottery on my app and enjoy trying the newest games for fun. On that particular day, I was thinking about my family—we’ve been going through some challenging times. I took a chance on Cash Castle, and couldn’t believe it when I actually hit the jackpot. This win truly came at the perfect time."
The man admitted that upon discovering he had won the life-changing sum, he began screaming his wife’s name. His daughter and wife came barging into the room, worried that something was wrong – but it was far from it! The family shared the moment together, with tears of joy, as the lucky winner shared with the Illinois Lottery.
Cash Castle is one of the latest additions to the Illinois Lottery’s portfolio of titles. The $30 progressive jackpot FastPlay game offers to pay out some significant amounts, with the lowest jackpot starting at $100,000, and has been a hit with players in Illinois.
In fact, this is the second-largest jackpot won in the game, following a $1.4m payout in April, and previously a $462,000 win in March.
As to what comes next, the King of the Castle said that he would first love to treat his family to a trip to Walt Disney World, which has long been a dream of theirs. Everyone is getting a piece of the action, it turns out!
"Now is the perfect time! We can’t wait to treat our five kids and eight grandkids to their first Disney World vacation," the King wrapped up.
