A lottery player from Michigan who participated in second chance drawings was recently surprised by a hefty win.
The Michigan Lottery confirmed that a 59-year-old player from Genesee County, who chose not to disclose his identity publicly, recently won a second chance prize playing the $300,000,000 Extraordinaire game.
The fortunate player saw one of his dreams come true after scoring a $100,000 second chance prize from a drawing that took place in December.
The lucky lottery player only recently visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his big prize.
In an interview for the Lottery, the 59-year-old man recalled the day he was notified about the big win, saying: "When I got an email telling me I'd won a $100,000 prize, all I could think was: 'This has got to be a joke.' I can't believe it actually happened!"
Recalling his experience with second chance drawings, the lucky player added: "I've won a few smaller prizes in second chance drawings before and always thought to myself: 'It would be so cool to win one of the big $100,000 prizes'."
After visiting the Lottery headquarters the 59-year-old second chance prize winner was asked if he had any plans about the windfall.
The Genesee County man replied that he would pay bills with part of the winnings and save the rest.
To win the second chance prize, the lucky lottery player registered non-winning $300,000,000 Extraordinaire tickets via the Michigan Lottery app.
Registering non-winning tickets can be completed through May 2, 2025.
The next second chance drawing is scheduled by the Michigan Lottery for February 11, 2025.
The upcoming drawing will be one out of a total of four second-chance drawings that are outstanding.
On each drawing, two players who have registered non-winning tickets will be selected randomly. Each of the players is awarded a second chance prize of $100,000.
